Racing

Whenever two sailboats get together, there's a good possibility
that an unofficial race will take place.

Racing!

At TYC we have a proud tradition of racing-members who
have participated in regattas at venues around the country
and the world - some have even tackled major ocean-going
events as crew on high-tech, pedigreed ocean racers.

Racing at Hartebeespoort is a regular feature of club life.
We conform to SAS rules, and encourage members to
take part in racing around the buoys. Class is pitted against
Class and an efficient handicapping system ensures that
all sailors - whether they are sailing a Mistral, J22, Stat 23,
Hunter or any other recognised class - have a chance
to make their mark.

The advantage to racing is simple. It gives members the
chance to compete, learn how to maximise the use of the
wind, learn from others and ultimately hone their skills
while enjoying the unique camaraderie that is a part
of a TYC event.
