TYC Yacht Club

Commodore’s Communique (Nov19)

Hi Everyone

As we head into the festive season, I would like to wish everyone safe travels to wherever you may be going.  If you plan on staying home this season then remember TYC is a great place to break away to.

Please note that our staff also has family commitments in December and will be taking some well deserved time off.  A roster of which staff is on duty will be posted on all the notice boards.

If you do intend to bring guests and camp, caravan and/or stay in your mobile camper/trailer or book a room at TYC it will cost R240.00 per unit per day and R20.00 per person per day for your guests.

Guests are only allowed if accompanied by members. Guests are requested to pay either by card or cash on arrival as per Bye Law 4.00

TYC has managed to host several well attended events since July 2019 which has increased our clubs cash flow by approximately R15 000.00. I would like to thank everyone that has supported these events and made a difference.

Also these events would not have been anywhere near the success they have if it wasn’t for our social committee.  They were responsible for all the catering (keeping the cost per meal really low) and decorating our tables and making us all feel welcome at our club.

Also as you all know TYC is available as a hired venue and has been utilised for a few functions again a welcomed income. On December 14 TYC will be used for a private Christmas function, this will be from 12h00 to late.

There are no official events planned for December but please feel free to use the club facilities.  I am sure there will be plenty of people to socialize with around the braai. We will post on social media if there are any impromptu socials and extend hearty invites.

Good luck to our youth sailors that are competing in their annual National Championships in December, this time down at Theewaterskloof Cape Town. Travel down and back safely please.

Have a Merry Christmas and a happy new year

Best Regards

Ralph Paterson
