TYC Yacht Club

Commodore’s Communique (Aug19)

Hi Everyone

Welcome to our new sailing season, let’s all be positive that we will get plenty of sailing done.  It will be the season of good winds from the right direction.

We had 2 awesome social events recently that were very well attended, Christmas in July and the Commodores Dinner, a big thank you to all that attended. Thank you to the committee for doing the catering and a huge thank you to Ann and her team for decorating the hall, you guys have done a fabulous job.

Our next social event is a Spring Family Braai on 14 September 2019, please come and enjoy a lovely day out with us

CALL OUT to all members:

If there is anyone that would be interested in helping out with mark laying and rescue please let us know.  I know we have not had any racing on the dam lately but we would like to know who would be keen so we can push on your button when we need.

Also if anyone is planning a clean out of their kitchens we are in need of the following for the TYC Members Kitchen:

  • Serving spoons
  • Dessert spoons
  • Tea towels and dish clothes
  • Braai grids
  • Basting brushes
  • Egg lifter
  • Egg poaching rings
  • Electric carving knife
  • Selection of kitchen knives
  • Bread boards
  • Salt & pepper cellars
  • Toaster
  • Variety of pots & frying pans

Any donations will be gratefully received.

To Rohan and Adrian, that are representing South Africa at the African Optimist Championships from 22 August 2019, we wish you all the best.  We know you will do us very proud.

Membership Fees:

Please help your club by making sure your arrears fees are paid up.  If you need to discuss a payment plan with us please come speak to the committee and we will discuss the best way to assist you to bring your accounts up to date.

Tractor:

As you may know our tractor broke down a while ago.  It is unfortunately still out of commission as we are waiting on parts to be shipped in before it can be repaired.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

“The History of Transvaal Yacht Club” as written by Sam Gluckman, a previous president of the club and assisted by Eddie Humphreys.  This book is no longer in print but Fred has 15 copies for sale at R200.00 each.  If anyone would like one of the last ever copies please contact Fred.
